EU offers A$25b in research funds

Australia's best and brightest researchers are being called on to apply for funding in areas such as migration, terrorism and sustainable cities after the European Union announced it would spend €15 billion ($A25 billion) on new scientific initiatives over the next two years.
 
The EU is the world's largest investor in cutting edge scientific research through its Horizon 2020 programme which covers the 2014 – 2020 period.
 
The programme is now calling for fresh proposals from all corners of the globe, including Australia.
